Australia Fined for Slow Over Rate in Second ODI Against India

The Australian women’s cricket team has been fined 10 percent of their match fee for maintaining a slow over rate during the second One Day International (ODI) against India. The match took place at the Maharaja Yadavindra Singh International Cricket Stadium in Mullanpur, New Chandigarh on Wednesday.

Australia was found to be two overs short of the target time after all available time allowances were considered. Captain Alyssa Healy pleaded guilty to the offense. According to Article 2.22 of the ICC Code of Conduct for Players and Player Support Personnel, players are fined five percent of their match fee for every over the team fails to bowl within the allotted time.

The charge was leveled by on-field umpires Vrinda Rathi and Janani Narayanan, third umpire Lauren Agenbag, and fourth umpire Gayathri Venugopalan.

India won the second ODI comprehensively by 102 runs, leveling the three-match series 1-1. Smriti Mandhana’s century spearheaded India’s batting performance. The hosts then bowled Australia out for 190.

The series decider is scheduled to be played on Saturday at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in New Delhi. The final match will determine which team secures the ODI series victory.
