Peaky Blinders: The Immortal Man Confirms March 2026 Release

Fans of the hit BBC crime drama can officially mark their calendars: Peaky Blinders: The Immortal Man is set to premiere March 6, 2026 in select theaters, followed by a global Netflix release on March 20, 2026. The film, nearly two hours in length, will continue the story left off by the show’s finale, which aired in 2022.

Directed by Tom Harper and written by series creator Steven Knight, the movie brings the Shelby crime saga to the big screen for the first time. The project was greenlit in June 2024, fulfilling Knight’s longtime promise of concluding the story through a feature film.

Cillian Murphy Returns as Tommy Shelby

Fresh off his Academy Award–winning performance in Oppenheimer, Cillian Murphy steps back into the role of Tommy Shelby, the complicated, haunted, and ruthless leader of the Peaky Blinders. The film places Tommy in 1940s Birmingham, deep in the chaos of World War II, as he confronts:

  • His darkest personal demons

  • His complicated family legacy

  • A nation fractured by conflict

  • The consequences of his self-imposed exile

The returning star-studded cast includes:

  • Stephen Graham

  • Rebecca Ferguson

  • Barry Keoghan

  • Tim Roth

Their involvement signals a gripping, high-stakes extension of the Peaky Blinders universe.

Film Plot: War, Power, and Redemption

Set against the wartime backdrop, The Immortal Man explores Tommy Shelby’s attempt to reclaim control over his life and the Shelby empire. With Europe on the brink and enemies on all sides, Tommy must reconcile his past actions while facing new threats emerging from both the British underworld and the global conflict.

The film promises a darker, more introspective tone than the series, blending political drama, organized crime, and psychological turmoil—hallmarks of the franchise.

A New Era for the Peaky Blinders Universe

The arrival of The Immortal Man marks a major expansion for the franchise. With director Tom Harper—who previously worked on the series—returning to the world of Birmingham, the film aims to deliver cinematic scale while staying true to the gritty style that made Peaky Blinders a worldwide phenomenon.

Steven Knight has hinted that the movie could pave the way for future spin-offs, opening the door to more stories set within the Peaky Blinders universe.
