Dharmendra, 89, Hospitalized in Mumbai, Health Update

Dharmendra, 89, Hospitalized in Mumbai; Condition Reported as Stable

Veteran actor Dharmendra, aged 89, has been admitted to Mumbai’s Breach Candy Hospital, sparking concern among his fans ahead of his upcoming 90th birthday on December 8th. Initial reports suggested the actor had been hospitalized for several days, raising anxieties about his health.

Conflicting accounts have emerged regarding the reason for his hospitalization. Some sources indicate that Dharmendra is undergoing a routine checkup and is in good health. A source close to the family told India Today, “Someone may have spotted him and created a news piece. He is absolutely fine and there’s nothing to be worried about. He is in great spirits and just went for his scheduled tests.”

However, NDTV sources claim the actor has been in the hospital for nearly five days. Meanwhile, sources close to the actor maintain that his visit is simply for routine medical tests, given his age. “Considering his age, he undergoes several medical tests from time to time, and this visit is just for that. He is absolutely fine, and there’s nothing to be concerned about,” a source told India TV.

Other reports suggest that the actor is under observation, with his family closely monitoring his medical reports. Despite these varied reports, media outlets emphasize that there is no cause for alarm.

Earlier this year, Dharmendra underwent an eye graft surgery. A video of him leaving the hospital with a bandaged eye circulated widely. He reassured his fans, saying, “I am strong. Abhi bhi Dharmendra mein bahut dum hai. Abhi bhi jaan rakhta hoon. Meri aankh, eye graft (corneal transplantation) ho gayi hai. I am strong. Love you, my audience and my fans.”

On the professional front, Dharmendra is set to appear in the upcoming biographical war drama Ikkis. The film, directed by Sriram Raghavan and produced by Maddock Films, features Agastya Nanda (Amitabh Bachchan’s grandson), Dharmendra, and Jaideep Ahlawat in lead roles. Ikkis is based on the true story of Second Lieutenant Arun Khetarpal, who was posthumously awarded the Param Vir Chakra for his bravery during the 1971 Indo-Pak war. The film is slated for release in December and marks the big-screen debut of Agastya Nanda and Simar Bhatia (niece of actor Akshay Kumar). Dharmendra portrays Arun’s grandfather, who frequently recounts tales of valor to a young Arun.

Ikkis has already generated considerable anticipation due to its compelling storyline and stellar cast.

In summary, while Dharmendra’s hospitalization has raised concerns, reports suggest he is either undergoing routine checkups or is under observation with no serious cause for alarm. Further updates are awaited.
