Mahindra EV Digital Key Now Supported on Samsung Wallet in India

Mahindra XUV 400 (XEV 9e) and BE electric vehicle owners in India who use Samsung Galaxy smartphones will soon be able to access their cars through their phones via the Samsung Wallet app. This new integration brings digital key support, enabling users to lock, unlock, and even start their Mahindra EVs using their smartphones.

Previously, XUV 400 and BE owners could access the digital key functionality through Mahindra’s own Me4U app. Now, with the Samsung Wallet integration, Mahindra aims to provide a more streamlined and convenient experience for Samsung users.

The digital key functionality utilizes Near Field Communication (NFC) technology. Users can add their digital key to the Samsung Wallet, which requires a PIN or biometric authentication for access, ensuring a secure and authorized user experience.

Key Benefits of Samsung Wallet Integration:

  • Convenience: Reduces the need to install and manage another separate app.
  • Easier Key Sharing: Simplifies the process of sharing the digital key with family and friends for a specified period.
  • Enhanced Security: Samsung Wallet’s authentication methods ensure only authorized users can access the key.

The integration does not affect existing access methods. Owners can still use the Me4U app, NFC card keys, and physical keys as before. The Samsung Wallet integration simply provides an additional option for enhanced convenience.

Lost Device Security:

In the event of a lost or misplaced Samsung smartphone containing the digital key, users can remotely delete the key through the Samsung Find service. This service also allows users to remotely lock the device, preventing unauthorized access to the vehicle.

Rollout Timeline:

While Mahindra has not yet provided a specific timeline for the rollout of the Samsung Wallet integration, they have stated that the functionality for select Mahindra eSUVs will be available soon in India.

This move signifies Mahindra’s commitment to leveraging technology to improve the ownership experience for its EV customers in India. By partnering with Samsung, a leading smartphone manufacturer, Mahindra is making it easier and more secure for owners to access and control their vehicles.

Users of other smartphone brands will still need to rely on the Me4U app to access the digital key functionality.

The NFC card keys and physical keys will continue to operate as normal.
